ADOPTION SEARCH - FAQs
What law governs the
release of information concerning adoption?
Information released in accordance with
M.G.L.C. 2105 5D. This law allows for non-identifying
information from our files to be shared with adoptees and birth

Family Services, a social worker is assigned to review the records.
How long does the review take?
The average length of time for this process is
approximately 6 months.
What forms do I have to fill out?
When requesting information for a search, a release of information
form (adoptee or birth parent), a waiver of confidentiality form
(adoptee or birth parent), an adoption search policy form and a fee
agreement are all required to be signed and sent to our agency. When
submitting forms applicant's must also send proof of identification,
such as a copy of their driver’s license or other photo I.D.
What fees are involved?
